Description:

The traverse of the col du Montandayné, at the summit of the Gran Paradiso, climbing the three peaks that comprise the Piccolo Paradiso, makes the itinerary one of the most interesting and panoramic of the Gran Paradiso.
Always fun and never too difficult it is a route that is seldom climbed.
It is a climb for those that enjoy being in a remote setting far away from the more frequented areas of the Alps. Due to the length of the climb one must be in excellent physical shape with experience in mixed terrain.
The climb begins on a glacier, with some steep sections, followed by the traverse of a magnificent arête surrounded by rock pillars. The last section involves climbing the between the  E and N face of the Gran Paradiso, the first with a southerly exposure, the second, dark and austere.
The decent follows the normal route to one of two mountain refuges (Chabod  o Vittorio Emanuele).

Itinerary: Rif. Chabod - Colle di Montandayné 3.723 mt.. - Piccolo Paradiso (P. Vaccarone 3.872 mt., P. Farrar 3.921 mt., P. Frassy 3.923 mt.) – Col du Piccolo Paradiso 3.871 mt. - Gran Paradiso 4.061 mt. – Descent via normal route to refuge Vittorio Emanuele or Rif. Chabod.
